Mobility programme

Would you like to do an internship and spend a period in another institution to improve your knowledge, skills and competences in a specific research area connected to Molten Salt Reactor?

The SAMOSAFER project is offering a mobility programme for BSc/MSc students, PhD students and young professionals by providing allowances for subsistence and travel costs.

Aim of the Mobility programme

Through this mobility programme, the SAMOSAFER project aims to increase access to knowledge, skills and competence in the field of the Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) for BSc and MSc students, PhD students and young professionals through effective interaction between the partners.

Who can apply?

  • BSc students and MSc students who want to perform an internship in one of the partner (or observer) institutions (hosting institution) on one of the topics related to Molten Salt Reactor and to SAMOSAFER Project. The student should be enrolled in a Bachelor or Master programme in i) one of the partner (or observer) institutions, or ii) any institution of the EU member states of the EU or iii) in a EURATOM associated country (home institution).
  • PhD students and young professionals involved in SAMOSAFER Project (coming from a partner or observer institution) that want to spend a period in another institution (hosting institution) to improve their knowledge, skills and competences in a specific research area connected to Molten Salt Reactor. The applicant should be enrolled in a PhD programme or employed as young researcher in a university, research centre or company (home institution). Priority is given to candidates coming from one of the partner (or observer) institutions.

What can be applied for?

  • BSc and MSc students can apply for a maximum reimbursement of 750 € per month (subsistence and travel costs) and up to a maximum of three months.
  • PhD students and young professionals can apply for a maximum reimbursement of 1000 € per month (subsistence and travel costs) and up to a maximum of six months.

How to apply

The applicant – in collaboration with his/her supervisor in the home institution – should contact the hosting institution to arrange the internship or the research exchange (duration of the stay, project topic, etc).

Prepare and submit[1] to SAMOSAFER@tudelft.nl the following documents in pdf format:

  • A completed Mobility Application Form
  • A Curriculum Vitae of the applicant
  • Motivation letter of the applicant, indicating how your experience could enhance the knowledge, skills and competences
  • Support letter from the applicant’s supervisor / home institution.
  • Support letter from hosting supervisor, indicating the availability of hosting the applicant
  • Description of the internship/research exchange project in terms of objectives and work plan (max 1 page), written in English

During the evaluation process, the internship/researcher exchange period or after the latter, upon request, the applicant will be also asked to submit additional documents.

The application should be sent at least one month before the start of the mobility action in order to receive the decision before the start of the internship/research exchange.

Applications regarding an ongoing internship/research exchange will be considered but, if successful, the grant will cover the travel and subsistence expenses starting from the month after the reception of the decision.

[1] The applicant personal data will be collected in compliance with the GDPR, i.e. they will be stored at the SAMOSAFER Research Project Data (Sharing) Location as secure storage for sensitive information and personal data.

Selection procedure

The criteria considered during the evaluation project are:

  • CV and motivation letter of the applicant
  • Quality of the proposed project and compliance with MSR topic
  • Impact of the mobility action in terms of education and training of the applicant

If the application is complete it will be evaluated by an Evaluation Committee.

The applicant will be informed about the decision by e-mail. When the decision is positive, the recipient will also receive the conditions for reporting and justification of travel and subsistence expenses.

Obligations of the recipient of the mobility grant

The grant recipient is obliged to submit a final summary report (max 2 pages) of internship/research exchange within 30 days after the completion of the experience. The grant will be issued in a single tranche, after the reception of the report and the documentation needed for the reporting and the declaration of the costs.
